End of Summer Bash

Amy and I decided to have an "End of Summer Bash" before the kids went back to school. I think it totaled about 5 days. It was the week before school started and we had a blast.

The Crusin' Klunker
This car is in a previous post as well. It's my friend Melissa's (grandpa's) car. He rides it around in parades. The kids had a blast all taking a turn.

She also has this powered Escalade. The kids LOVED that. It has an actual radio in it too.

Look at how relaxed Halle is.

The boys loved the Escalade as well.

The Ward Party
I didn't actually get any pictures of the ward party, but I did get some pictures of Halle eating the cupcakes I made for it. The party was on Friday night at the park. They had a delicious dinner, dunk tank, sno-cones and lots of fun. The kids all got soaking wet.

The Primary Activity
The next morning on Saturday the kids had a primary party. It was all slip-n-slides and they still had the dunk tank from the night before. I wasn't able to go because I already had an appointment to do a family's pictures. Josh, Amy and the 4 kids went. Evidently all Halle wanted to do the whole time was have Josh run her up and down the slide and would get mad when he stopped. Shocker! I tried to post a video of it but blogger is being stupid right now, I'll do it later.

What? That looks like a genuine smile out of Kennet. I can't believe it! The kids had so much fun and I was happy that all of this stuff fell over the weekend that Amy was here.

Saturday Night
Amy and I used to play the Nintendo all the time when we were kids. Our favorite, of course, is Bubble Bobble. We are able to download the old games for $5 onto our Wii. A few months ago, we downloaded Super Mario Bros 3. We LOVED that one when we were kids. Needless to say, Amy and I played it for 7 hours on Saturday. Hey, before you judge... 3 hours was in the afternoon and the other 4 was later that night after the kids had gone to bed. Well, really after Halle, the most demanding one, went to bed. It brought back many great memories.

We went to Costco and then went out to dinner at TGI Friday's. I've never ate there before but it was so good. Amy and I couldn't decide between 2 entrees, so we both got one and split them. Yum!
Here we are at the restaurant. Hals was... well, less than cooperative. Let's just say that!

Dad's Birthday
On Sunday we had a little birthday celebration at our house for my dad. I did an entire other post about that but it was part of our summer bash, so it had to go in.

LagoonThat's right, we could totally kick your trash.

Ok, so there is a softer side.

One thing is for sure, we know how to have fun!

We did the old western pictures in Pioneer Village first thing, right when we got there. We had 4 people, Amy, myself, Halle and Chloee in a "changing room" that could not have been more than 3 feet by 3 feet. Halle did surprisingly well, I was amazed. She sat on her stool, didn't cry, didn't try and take any of the accessories off. Granted, they did give her some fake money to hold and she did love that!

We promised the kids that if they were good then they could get an ICEE. We definitely had to pay up because they were all amazing during the pictures even though we drug them past all the rides to get to Pioneer Village.

Halle got a red ICEE, as you can tell from her stained face.

Now her stained hand.

She just kept dipping her hand in there and licking it off her fingers.

Yeah, I don't think that actually wore off for a few days.

Pure pleasure!

The boys just chillin' while I took Chloee to the bathroom.

It was so bloody hot that day and it was soooo packed. There were so many people there. I guess everyone was trying to go one last time before school started. We were there for about 7 hours and I think we only rode 7 rides. Amy and the kids waited in line to go on Rattlesnake Rapids. Halle is too small to ride it so we waited (not patiently might I add) for them to finally get on their raft so we could spray them. Amy and Chloee were by far the most soaked.

It is tradition to play in the fountain before we leave. This time, Hals joined in on the fun.

Here she is soaking wet and all sorts of pissed off.

I have a video of it but blogger won't let me download any videos right now. It was so hilarious watching her play in the water. After, she screamed the entire way back to the car because she was freezing. The girls both dried off in a towel and rode home in just their underwear / diaper.

On Tuesday we sat around and watched movies while we did laundry. We watched Leap Year, that adorable movie with Matthew Goode in it. We wanted to watch another movie with him in it. Amy got one from Netflix, "Chasing Liberty" with stupid Mandy Moore. We watched it and laughed so hard at her HORRIBLE acting. I mean it was bad but we couldn't stop watching it because it was so fun to make fun of and of course, we got to see glimpses of Matthew Goode. "McGruff, I trusted you!" (hand over heart, portraying the deep hurt that was caused). That was for you Amy, I know you're laughing.

Amy went home that night. She had some prior engagements she had to attend to the next day. I was so sad that it was over. How could it have already been over? All in all, we had so much fun and can't wait to do it again next year.
