Nate's Happy Day!!!

Yesterday was Chloee's friend, Nate's, birthday! He turned 2! These 2 have such a love/hate relationship. They always want to be together but when they are, they are so mean to each other. Okay, really it's my child that isn't nice! Even still, they really do get along very well and love each others company!!!

I know Lance is going to kill me for putting this on here but I had to. Lance made this cake for Nate! I know he did it really fast but I still think it looks great!

Thanks Lance, Maren & Nate for having us over. Sorry it was so late and that you were super sick, Maren. These 2 and their balloons, they are so cute!

Happy Birthday Nate! Finally, it was your "Happy Day"! We love you Naterbugs!

Snip Snip

Sunday I was sitting in church and I realized how much I hated my hair. It was at that in between stage where I just felt frumpy. It was long enough to pull into a pony tail but not all of it, which also never forced me to do it. I decided to chop it off and hopefully I'd feel better about myself, well, I'm still fat but I like my hair. I had a doctor's appointment today so I just made an appointment right before. I really like it! I'm such a pansy when it comes to my hair. It is SO thin that I am always afraid to do anything to it. As always, Audrey did a good job!

This one is really more for Amy. She wanted to see how the back looked.

The doctor appointment went well, although, I gained lots of weight, which I figured, I ate Halloween candy like CRAZY! It is not a number I am willing to throw up on my blog. I'm doing my glucose test in a couple of weeks, hopefully it goes well. With Chloee, I was borderline gestational diabetic and had to do that stupid test again. It's more potent than the first sugar crap and you have to sit there for 4 hours while they draw your blood every hour, on the hour! Blah, I really don't want to do that again!

She once again is measuring ahead of schedule. She is due on March 6th but I think we are definitely going to be having a February baby!

Shortest 30 Minutes

The day usually drags, it's as if time stands still until Josh gets home. The best part of my day is at 10:30 am when Barney comes on KBYU. Chloee loves Barney! I have never seen her sit longer than 10 minutes to watch something, EVER! But, something magical happens when this show comes on... she doesn't move a muscle, she is so mesmerized, it's like she's in a trance. I love this, mainly because I can get ANYTHING done during those 30 minutes without being interrupted, but also because she takes a nice break from screaming! It's music to my ears! 10:30 - 11 am is MY SANITY TIME! I can shower, work on pictures and not have a care in the world. All through the day, time drags but of course that 30 minutes flies by as if it were only 30 seconds!

Me, thinking I'm all sneaky, go and buy a Barney DVD. Needless to say, it doesn't have the same effect, AT ALL! It's like it has to be on the TV to be the least bit interesting to her. I think she gets the fact that she can watch that one anytime she wants so she doesn't care for it. GO FIGURE!

Songs of Life

I was thinking the other day about this song that would really describe me at this point in my life and every time I hear it, I think, "This should be the theme song to my life right now". Then I thought, I'd do a post on each of our songs.

Josh's would definitely have to be "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas". He loves that they are already playing Christmas music. Christmas is Josh's favorite holiday. It's fun to see him get all festive and there is always Christmas music playing when a radio is on!

Mine is "Shattered" by O.A.R. My favorite line in that song is, "How many times can I break 'till I shatter." I really just feel like this on most days. There are too many things going on right now in my life that stress me out and I have found that I just don't care about making everyone else happy and doing what is "expected" of me. I've gotten to the point where I really don't care what people think, it's my life and my decisions!

Of course Chlo's would have to be "Miss Independent" by Kelly Clarkson. Really, just the title of the song. This girl is so independent, some days Josh and I just want to PULL our hair OUT!!! Yesterday was definitely one of those days! I know it's part of development but this chick takes it to a whole new level. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING has to be done by herself, NO HELP, EVER... It becomes very old, very fast. Josh reminds me that it is a good thing and that at least she will never be walked all over. That girl has got a mind of her own! I'm sure my mom is laughing right now, as she reads this, because every time I am over there, my mom and dad inevitably comment on the fact that she is just like I was when I was that age! I blame The Mother's Curse: "I hope you have a child just like you!" At any rate, I hope Josh's mom made the curse on him cause that means I have a mellow one in the bunch coming, sometime...

Touch Your Heart

My sister-in-law, Stacie, told me about this link to a story on Oprah that she said I should watch. It only takes about 6 minutes of your time but it will touch your heart. It was one of the sweetest, heart warming things I have ever watched. If you have the time, watch it, if you don't have the time, MAKE THE TIME. I promise it will be worth it. It opened my eyes up to a lot of things in my life and she was truly inspired to share this with me on that particular day.

We all take things for granted or feel sorry for ourselves and see the glass as half empty more than the optimistic, half full glass. It's all about your perspective and how you decide to deal with trials that come your way. Here is the link:

Of course, I bawled my eyes out, I'm pregnant but I don't think you even need to have a million hormones running through you to have this touch you. It was such a neat story. There is also a short 20 second or so commercial at the beginning that you have to watch before it starts.

On a different note of something that made me bawl like a little child. Yesterday, I watched the video that Micheal, Amy's husband, sent home to her and the boys from Iraq. Tears from all of us, yes, including Josh. Wow, that about broke my heart to watch him read a book to the boys and talk about them being together again and reminiscing about things they used to do together and hear him get a little choked up. As I've said before, that little family of 4 is amazing! Amy & Micheal never cease to amaze me with their positive outlook!

THE LONGEST NIGHT EVER

Murphy has a lot of laws. A lot of which I seem to be able to grace my presence with on more occasions than I care to remember. Really, it should be Kimberlee's Law. I could blame it on Josh and say it should be Adams' Law, but my bad luck came about LONG before I met Josh. Now, he just has to grin and bear it with me...

Last Tuesday, we went and bought a chest freezer. We have been wanting one for a very long time. Well, I took advantage of the Macey's deal on chicken breasts for only $1.19 a lb and we got a 40 lb box. Josh cut it all up, we bagged, dated, you name it and put it away. Well, then on Friday, Jeremy, a guy from Josh's work, offered for people to get a great deal on beef if they'd come and help cut and package. Josh brought home 85 lbs of beef. Yes, 85... See why he had to have that freezer!

Saturday we were down at Josh's mom's doing pictures and we decided to come home that night to be able to sleep in our own bed. We were going back down the next day for his brother who was blessing their baby, but that wasn't until 3, so we would be fine, right?

We get home Saturday night at 10. I'm sitting in bed reading and the lights start to flicker. On and off, about 10 times. Then, all of a sudden there was a big flash of light out the window that lit up everything and BAM, the power was out! I HATE the dark and that is an understatement. I hate it so much, I don't sleep and it's so QUIET. I call Rocky Mountain Power and here's what I get:

"West Point is out of power, 800 customers are out of power and it could come back on my maybe 1:30 am." Ok, so is that with the time change or not with the time change? In the meantime, I bring Chloee into our bed so that we can all stay warm together and I can see her, like I said, I hate the dark, total paranoia.

The alarm on our house beeps 2x when a door is opened, well all of a sudden it beeps a fast 4 times and I am ready to seriously have a heart attack. I'm thinking that someone waited until our power went off and now they are trying to get in our house to kill me. Yes, this is the way my brain works. Josh looks at me and I can tell he's thinking the same thing as me, "What the H was that?" He goes downstairs, with a huge flashlight, might I add and I guess it was the system just saying that it didn't have power and was running on back-up or something like that. Not good for a pregnant person, I think I almost went into labor right then and there.

We're still not sleeping and I call RMP again: "West Point, Clearfield and Syracuse are out, over 1800 customers are out of power, estimated to come back on at 2 am." Once again, is this with the stupid time change or NOT???

Still no sleep, I'm just lying there wide awake and I feel like I can puke at any given moment. It's about 2 am at this point, right when the clock changes back to 1 am and I call again. RMP says: "West Point is out, 800 customers are out of power, check back at 4:30 am." What? Why did Clearfield and Syracuse get their power back on, ours has been out much, much longer?

No sleep still, all of a sudden, there's a beeping going on. Oh great, one of the smoke alarms are beeping because the battery needs to be changed. Josh goes around the pitch-black house trying to find which one it is. He thought it was the one in the vault, I'm sure he would have probably thrown something at it and smashed it before he would have changed that one. After much searching, it's the one in the office.

I call RMP: "West Point, Clearfied, Layton, Ogden, Harrisville, Bountiful and SLC are out. Over 8500 customers are out of power. Estimated time to be back on is 8:30 am". Still no sleep, maybe 20 minutes here or there and it's starting to get COLD. Chloee's not sleeping well, she keeps waking up and screaming. Neither Josh or I are sleeping really and Chloee is just going crazy.

Finally, 8:30 am rolls around and ends the LONGEST night of my life, literally, cause we got that stupid extra hour in there. I call RMP: "West Point, Clearfield, Layton, Syracuse, Ogden, Harrisville, Bountiful, SLC, Wellsville AND ALL THE SURROUNDING AREAS are out. We cannot give an estimated time that the power will be back on." They didn't even mention how many customers were out of power, probably TOO MANY to report. Why is West Point the only city that has continually had their power off the ENTIRE time? I call my friend Maren, who lives in Syracuse and they have power and I ask her if we can come over for a little bit, to a warm house and somewhere that I can open the fridge. (That makes me sound like a mooch, I brought my own cereal, just borrowed her milk.)

We went to her house and it was so warm. I was able to actually eat something. Chloee was ornery, as usual. I could tell something was bothering her, then and all night. I called, still same news so Josh went and bought ice for all of our meat that was in our deep freezer. Yes, Murphy's Law, I get over 125 lbs of meat and the power goes out and there is no definite time of when it will come back on... if EVER at this point! As we were driving to Maren's house, there were houses 5 blocks away from us that had power but not our neighborhood.

We buy ice and decide to go home and make sure our meat is okay. We get home at noon and it finally came back on. We were out of power for over 13 hours. Once again, Murphy's Law steps in, we have 8 bags of ice and the power JUST came back on. Chloee was screaming and yelling, I'm so tired I can barely see straight and I think I'm going to throw up, the weather was insane up here, it was raining like cats and dogs and our windshield wipers couldn't even keep up with it, so we decided to stay home and not go to the baby blessing which was an hour and a half away. I put Chloee down for a nap because she wouldn't stop screaming, I lay down and Josh zonks out shortly after me and we sleep for over 3 hours.

Well, we finally got power and our house took a little bit to warm up. We were so exhausted and time change throws you off anyway. I find out next day what is wrong with Chloee. She's got another UTI, which isn't good where she has the urinary reflux, explains why she was screaming so much. That fiasco in it and of itself is a whole different story. You know what I mean, Maren!

That's it, Murphy's Law, but once again, got the best of me!

2 Year Picture

I did Chloee's 2 year pictures forever ago. Sad, I know, that I am just getting around to printing them up and deciding on one. I chose this one but it was very hard, I think I was deciding between this and about 12 others. I am completely decision impaired. I am going to post more of her 2 year sitting on my photography blog, if you want to see more. It's true, after a very long, 4 month absence of not posting on it, I have returned and I have so many pictures to post, it will take a while but I'm slowly getting them all on there.

What a cutie!
