The Things They Say

Chloee has been going through a really bad phase where she's a snot. She screams and yells, throws tantrums (more than normal), won't share, screams at Halle, hurts Halle by biting, pushing, choking... all of the above. She won't do anything we say and she's just taken a turn for the worse on pretty much everything. I mean HORRIBLE defiance that I wont' even go into.

The last little bit both Josh and myself have said to her on multiple occasions, "Where did the old Chloee go? The Chloee who used to help with Halle and used to do what Mom and Dad asked and didn't scream and yell all the time. Where's that Chloee? We want that Chloee back. When is that Chloee coming back? We miss her!"

A couple of days ago, we were coming home from Amy's house and Chloee helped put Halle in her seat and then gave Halle her blanket so Halle wouldn't be cold and did everything we asked of her. We told her thank you so much and that we were very proud of her. Her retort to that was, "I came back!" We both kind of looked at each other like, "What?" That's when it donned on us what she meant, that the old Chloee was back. You had to have been there for that, we laughed so hard and we still joke about it.

Today we had the following conversation:

Me: "Chloee, is that where you coat goes, in the middle of the floor?"

Chloee: "No, I'm sorry Mom, I should have put it away."

Me: "It's okay, thank you for picking it up and putting it away."

Chloee: "Wow Mom, you can be nice when I do what you say."

Oh Chloee! That girl kills me!! It's amazing when it finally clicks in their head that we don't have to be mean and grouchy if they would just do what we ask. Unfortunately, it's a learning process that requires mucho effort. What a nice compliment your little Chlo paid you! She is too cute!
